Best Times To Sail Through The Persian Gulf On A Yacht

Cruising the Persian Gulf on a comfort-class yacht is perhaps one of the most relaxing and luxurious ways to experience Dubai. With its pristine waters, stunning skyline views, and the beautiful Palm Jumeirah Islands, the experience can be truly unforgettable. The key to getting the most out of cruising in Dubai is selecting the proper time. Dubai’s climate changes throughout the year, so picking the appropriate season can elevate your yacht experience from good to unforgettable.

Here’s a guide to help you select the best time of year for your cruise and what you can expect depending on the season.

Peak Season: November to March

If you’re after warm, lovely weather and blue skies, November to March is the time for you. Temperatures during this period are fairly consistent, ranging from 20 to 30 degrees Celsius. The sun is calmer, the humidity is lower, and the sea is calmer – all this equates to the perfect time to go out on the water.

So, while you are relaxing on the deck sunbathing, swimming, or taking the party on a tea-time charter, you won’t be sweating bullets the entire time. It’s also a wonderful time to go sightseeing. The Burj Al Arab, Atlantis The Palm, and the Dubai Marina are all pleasant places to see under the cooler skies.

Keep in mind that this is the peak season as well, and boats can fill up quite quickly. Make sure to book your cruise early, as this will give you the best chance to secure good slots and pricing.

Shoulder Season: April, May & September, October

These are great months if you want to avoid the masses but enjoy nice weather. Temperatures are warming up slightly and typically range from 30°C to 38°C (86°F to 100°F). The heat isn’t too intense during the early mornings or late afternoons, making them the best times for cruising.

This season is perfect for those who enjoy quieter experiences. Yacht rental prices are also somewhat cheaper, and the possibility is higher that it will be available too. You can enjoy some amazing sunsets over the Persian Gulf, making it perfect for romantic evening trips or private gatherings.

Low Season: June to August

In Dubai, summer can be downright brutal, with daytime highs often exceeding 40°C (104°F). However, that doesn’t mean you can’t also go yacht cruising. Depending on how you book, for example, early morning and post-sunset, you can still cruise while avoiding the hottest part of the day.

Comfort-class yachts often have air-conditioned lounges and shaded upper decks, so you can be comfortable any time of year. The added benefit is that prices are lower, and there is typically more flexibility in renting during these months.

Special Events and Holidays

Some times of the year are just more fun for yacht cruising. The National Day (December 2), New Year’s Eve, and Dubai Shopping Festival (January) all include fireworks and city celebrations that you can enjoy while cruising on a yacht. Witnessing fireworks from the water is a fun experience, as you’ll have access to the best views in town while being on a boat and away from the large crowds on the streets.
